Meet
Tips
SWIMMER CHECK IN: Swimmers MUST check in by removing swim tab from check-in board prior to each meet. Check-in times will be e-mailed prior to each meet since time varies depending on location. Swimmers not checked in by designated check-in time are scratched and will not be able to swim.
PARENT VOLUNTEER CHECK IN: Parents who are scheduled to work MUST check in with Catherine Brown. Look for her around a FAST Parent Check-In poster. Volunteer check-in times will be e-mailed prior to each meet as they will also vary with location.
SWIM MEETS BEGIN: Time depends on location. Most home meets will begin at 9:30am. Away meets will start at 9:00am. Evening meets begin at 6pm. Once your swimmers have finished their races and the parents are duty free, families are free to leave or stay as desired.
CHEERING: Parents and swimmers alike are encouraged to cheer swimmers on. Please do not crowd the timers though.
GOOD SPORTS: Parents, please remember that this is a fun, recreational league. We are all volunteers. If you see or hear something at practice or a meet that makes your blood boil, please calmly discuss it with one of the coaches or Kristie Moura. Give us a chance to try to explain why something is done the way it is done, rectify the situation, or play mediator with the other team before tempers flare, feelings are hurt, or worse, the gossip mill begins to grind. FAST is a friendly, family team :)
Things you may want to bring to meets:
SUNSCREEN
Chairs
A Tent or umbrella
A way to anchor the umbrella
A blanket or ground cover for the kids
Two towels per swimmer. (Write your family name on the
towel)
Extra goggles
A t-shirt to wear over swim suit when not swimming
Hats and sweats
Card games
Game boys
Small board games
Drinks
Snacks and/or $ for the snack bar
OTHER TIPS:
IF YOU OR YOUR SWIMMER WILL BE LATE, PLEASE CALL Kristie @ 980-7538.
Find out who your swimmer's coordinator is and look for them about 5 races before your race.
Go to the bathroom 10 races before your race. (Races are numbered and the current race is usually posted near the head timer.) They also post all swimmers' names and races with heats and lanes before the meet begins.
Bring a black sharpie to write this on your swimmer's arm, hand or other place where you will see it. (Or bring pen and paper).
Go to the Dolphins website and read the League Rules. This actually will help you to better understand the meet, scoring, judging etc.
